US LEC Kicks Off 2006 With Over 26,000 Customers

(Nasdaq: CLEC), a leading IP-based communications carrier serving businesses and enterprise organizations throughout the Eastern United States, today announced its customer base of medium- to large-sized businesses totaled 26,225 as of December 31, 2005. "US LEC finished a solid 2005 with a double-digit percentage increase in our business customer base and begins 2006 with great traction for another strong year," said Aaron Cowell, president and CEO of US LEC. "Our ability to offer a compelling product line, including the latest in IP-based technology, and keep customers through best-in-class customer support is reflected in US LEC's consistent customer growth and high retention rate." In 2005, the company expanded its product line with IP-based products and services. New IP-enabled products launched in 2005 include MPLS VPN, Ethernet, and enhancements to the Dynamic T(SM) VoIP product line that includes Dynamic T SIP, Voice Mail and Mobility Pak, BIGVoice(SM) and BIGData(SM) solutions. "Customer requirements for secure and scalable communications are more sophisticated than ever before," Cowell added. "We continue to expand our IP- based product portfolio to meet our customers' demands for flexible, cost- effective and feature-rich solutions, including those that allow for migration to next-generation technologies and equipment." From 2000 to 2005, US LEC grew its customer base exponentially, adding more than 22,000 medium- to large-sized business customers. 2006 marks the company's tenth year in business.
