TempWorks Software Expands Hosted Services Environment
19 January 2006 TempWorks Software, a leading provider in the staffing technology industry, eagerly announced today news on the expansion of its services to hosted server customers. TempWorks offers hosted services to customers looking to eliminate expenses related to the purchase and maintenance of computer server equipment. In addition, this service lowers the overhead spent for hired staff required to ensure the system is running properly and efficiently.
Offering hosted solutions to customers since the late 1990's, TempWorks set in motion changes to address its quickly growing base of hosted clients whom demanded maximum uptime and high quality service. Currently hosting hundreds of users on a daily basis, TempWorks is devoted to delivering enterprise-class hosting solutions to these customers.
Paul Czywczynski, Chief Technology Officer for TempWorks Software, pinpointed two main areas for improvement, Internet connectivity and power outage. Paul and his technology team tackled the first issue with two T1's that work in tandem and are supported by two separate telecommunications companies. If one telephone company goes down, the T1 through the other telephone company remains available. Offering further protection, a fall back DSL solution was established. In the rare occurrence that both T1's are lost, an Internet route is open through a DSL provider. In addition, TempWorks backs up its redundant Internet connectivity with clustered firewalls and onsite preconfigured spare routers and switches.
Conquering the second issue of power redundancy was no small feat. From onset to completion, this task required six months of planning and implementation. The result is an APC InfraStruXure unit with a back up diesel power generator. TempWorks is proud to proclaim that its Hosing Services division can now operate indefinitely, even if the main power source is cut off. For its efforts in providing the best up-time to customers, TempWorks will receive the Real-time InfraStruXure Award in March 2006, awarded by APC.
To handle the large number of users it is currently supporting, TempWorks is utilizing a Terminal Services server farm consisting of eighteen plus Dell Power Edge servers with redundant power and disk systems. These servers are backed by a Microsoft SQL Server, consisting of two Dell PowerEdge servers in a cluster configuration.
Realizing that sufficient back up storage hardware is essential, TempWorks eliminated the tape drives previously used and switched to removable hard drives as data retention devices. TempWorks hosted customers can rest easy when it comes to security. Customer expectations for a secure environment were avidly met. The server room is environmentally controlled and kept locked with digital keypads and monitored by multiple video cameras twenty-four hours a day.
However, physical security alone won't provide complete disaster redundancy. For that reason, TempWorks continues working diligently on its plans for additional services such as an online backup site. «TempWorks is devoted to providing unsurpassed hosting solutions to its customers.
