Superior Wireless Alleviates Internet and Phone Accessibility Crisis
14 February 2006 The devastation brought by hurricane Katrina has left many area businesses without access to fundamental communications technologies, thus hindering their recovery efforts. Superior Wireless, a locally-based ISP, recognizes this problem and the challenge it poses to the revitalization of the local economy. In response to this crisis, Superior Wireless offers Internet and telephone services to companies in the New Orleans vicinity, even in areas where traditional phone and cable companies cannot. Joe Laura, founder and CEO of U.S.-based Superior Wireless explains how this is possible. «A signal is broadcast from one of seven area towers, the most notable being the one atop the Falstaff Brewery, to a receiver at the subscriber's location. From there, the security-enabled signal is sent to a network inside the company's building. At that point, both High Speed Internet and voiceover IP telephone services are readily available.» This technology allows businesses that were severely debilitated by hurricane Katrina to get up and running again without having to wait on phone or cable companies for assistance. Superior Wireless boasts that after Katrina it now covers nearly 75% of the New Orleans area. Demonstrating its commitment to community, Superior Wireless, also provides Internet and telephone services on a pro-bono basis to the Made with Love Café and Grill in St. Bernard Parish (a.k.a. the former Waveland Café), local area churches, and numerous other organizations that are helping our region to recover. In an effort to extend Internet service to as many people as possible, Superior Wireless has also placed Internet Kiosks inside establishments citywide, including the local Puccino's coffeehouses. Please contact Superior Wireless with any questions. About Superior Wireless: Superior Wireless founder and CEO Joe Laura began his career in the alarm industry in 1982. In 1999, he moved forward by entering the world of remote digital video surveillance. Not long after that, he graduated to the wireless ISP business with the incorporation of Superior Wireless. From this humble beginning, Superior Wireless has diversified its business from the surveillance market to the wireless broadband market by connecting conferences, hotels, coffee shops and office buildings.
