Small and Medium Businesses Worldwide Improve Operations with Intelligent Communications from Avaya

Small businesses around the globe are able to use Intelligent Communications from Avaya to keep employees connected and better manage their operations with the newest release of Avaya IP office, a secure and easy-to-use converged voice and data system for small and medium businesses.

Now, IP Office is easier than ever to install and maintain, with mobility and call-handling capabilities that help companies operate more efficiently, improve service to customers and stay in touch with employees on the go, regardless of where their work takes them.

Two companies using Avaya IP Office to improve their operations and deliver superior customer service are: Cascadia Capital, a North American investment bank for emerging growth and middle market companies specializing in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions; and Oceanwave Digital, an information technology company serving small and medium businesses from its offices in the United Kingdom and Cape Town, South Africa.

Among the many new features enabled by the new 3.2 release of IP Office software are:

-- Mobile communications. Through a "mobile twinning" feature, employees

can choose to have incoming office calls ring simultaneously on a cell

phone, home phone or other remote handset so they can stay in touch

with important customers and colleagues when away from their desk.

-- Improved installation and support. Built-in validation and error-

checking and easy-to-use programming templates are among the many

changes made to make Avaya IP Office 3.2 easier for businesses to

install and support.

-- New call-handling options. Rather than routing unanswered calls

directly to voice mail, IP Office lets employees set up a personal

attendant so callers can choose instead to speak to an operator or

colleague or transfer to a cell phone or other number where the worker

can be reached.

-- Conferencing enhancements. Avaya has expanded the robust conferencing

features of IP Office to simplify document sharing and enable Web chat

among conference participants.

To date Avaya has sold more than 80,000 IP Office solutions to companies around the world.

Companies Use IP Office to Improve Operations and Customer Service

For Cascadia Capital, Avaya IP Office is an important tool for keeping the company's highly skilled investment bankers connected to clients, colleagues and critical company information.

"The new mobile twinning feature of IP Office 3.2 is extremely important to us," said Christopher Bettin, director of information technology for Cascadia Capital. "That means we can give our clients one number to reach our investment bankers; whether they are in the office or visiting a client. The new management capabilities also allow us to deploy new policies and features to groups of users."

By integrating IP Office with the company's Microsoft Exchange email application, investment bankers at Cascadia are able to use their Blackberry handheld wireless devices to access Avaya voicemail from a single, integrated email and voicemail inbox.

Bettin said the built-in conferencing features of Avaya IP Office are also heavily utilized by the Cascadia team.

"Meeting with clients is a huge part of our business," he said. "IP Office makes it simple for them to quickly establish a meeting and collaborate. In addition, we've saved enough money by eliminating outside conferencing services to pay for the Avaya system within 18 months."

Avaya BusinessPartner Oceanwave Digital is using Avaya IP Office to link its offices in the United Kingdom and South Africa and to improve the service it delivers to customers. Using the IP telephony features of the Avaya system, Oceanwave consultants have seamless connectivity to their company network whether they are working in one of the firm's offices or from home using an Avaya IP phone.

"The mobility features of IP Office 3.2 software help our consultants stay in touch with customers through a single office number when they are away from their desk, preserving the privacy of their personal cell phone numbers," said Patrick Fitzgerald, technical director, Oceanwave. "And the new personal auto attendant features give our customers flexibility and choice when the consultant they call is unavailable. Now, customers can decide whether to leave a message, transfer to the company receptionist or reach an engineer remotely via mobile phone."

New management features of IP Office 3.2 make it simpler for Oceanwave to support other small business customers who deploy Avaya IP Office systems -- with remote management capabilities that often eliminate the need for a site visit in order to make updates or changes.
