Salesforce.com Extends Enterprise Search Capabilities for Salesforce and AppExchange Applications with Support for Google OneBox for Enterprise
20 April 2006 Salesforce.com, inc. (NYSE: CRM), the market and technology leader in on-demand customer relationship management (CRM), today announced that it has extended enterprise search capabilities for its customers with the availability of ten search modules based on the new Google OneBox for Enterprise. Google OneBox for Enterprise -- a new feature of the Google Search Appliance -- gives corporations secure access to information in their enterprise applications from the convenience of the Google search box. Together with Google, salesforce.com has co-developed ten pre-configured search modules including modules for leads, opportunities, contacts, and accounts, allowing customers to quickly and easily search for data and information contained in Salesforce or AppExchange applications alongside all their other corporate information (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20050216/SFW105LOGO ) "Google is the world leader in search, and salesforce.com is the leader in managing and sharing business data on demand, so this partnership is a big win for customers who want better access to and control of their data," said Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO, salesforce.com. "Google OneBox for Enterprise simplifies the customer experience, delivering the ability to search within Salesforce and other AppExchange applications all from one place. In addition to the ten search modules salesforce.com has delivered, we expect that customers and partners will want to build other specific search modules, including modules for custom applications they've built with AppExchange." Users can easily search and find real-time information on the Web from stock tickers to weather on Google.com. Now employees can see similar real-time information from salesforce.com alongside search results using the salesforce.com OneBox modules to gain access to their Salesforce application. The ten pre-configured Salesforce search modules have the familiar Google interface but with the relevant information from each particular salesforce.com object. For example, salesforce.com customers who search for a sales opportunity are able to preview the Salesforce results at the top of the search results page including information such as the deal stage and the expected close date. Once a customer identifies an opportunity they are interested in, they have the ability to click through and see the opportunity details within Salesforce. Customers can precede their search terms with other keywords, including: Campaign, Lead, Account, Contact, Opportunity, Contract, Case, Solution, Document, and a general search which returns results across all their Salesforce.com or AppExchange objects. "Google is excited to partner with salesforce.com to provide secure, easy access to customer information directly from the Google Search Appliance," said Dave Girouard, Vice President and General Manager of Google Enterprise. "The Google OneBox modules developed by salesforce.com will provide their community with convenient, real-time access to the data stored in their Salesforce and AppExchange applications." The Google OneBox for Enterprise modules are free for download from the Google Enterprise Developer forum.
