Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet Express Boosts Speed by 60% to 5 Mbps
15 March 2006 Rogers Cable Communications Inc. today announced it has increased the speed of its Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet Express service from 3 to 5 megabits per second (Mbps), giving customers 60% more speed when downloading content. This increase in speed will allow Rogers customers to do more of what they want even faster than before such as downloading games and viewing movie trailers. Hi-Speed Internet services." Over the next couple of weeks, Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Express will roll out its new speed at no additional charge to its customers. Customers can enjoy the increased speed immediately by restarting their modems. This can be done by unplugging for 10 seconds and then reconnecting the modem's power cord. Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet offers customers' free high-value services such as a complete and easy-to-use security suite, Rogers Yahoo! Photos with unlimited storage; LAUNCHcast, commercial-free Internet radio; and a special Rogers Yahoo! browser with premium features such as tabbed browsing, free premium personal web space and free blogs. Rogers Cable passes approximately 3.4 million homes in Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland, with 67% basic penetration of its homes passed. Approximately 40% of Rogers basic subscribers are also digital customers and approximately 44% are Rogers Hi-Speed residential and business customers. Roger Cable now offers home telephone service (voice-over- cable) in the Greater Toronto Area and Ottawa markets, and will continue to roll out the service across its other cable service areas in the coming months.
