MLX Relaunches AskLaLa.com Website
24 September 2005New York online real estate service provider MLX is pleased to announce the relaunch of its AskLaLa.com website, named for MLX's CEO, LaLa Wang. The new site promotes an open real estate market, in which consumers have access to the same information available to brokers, and incorporates parts of the former reformrealestate.org website.
New Yorkers who have wondered why it is so difficult to find no-fee apartments in New York, or to find alternatives to the standard 15% rental commission, now have a voice in AskLaLa.com. Apartment renters, buyers, and sellers who seek a more efficient real estate marketplace can vote "yes" for an open real estate market -- as more than 36,000 New Yorkers have already done.
For ten years, MLX has sounded the alarm about the failure of New York State regulators to understand how technology can make the real estate market radically more efficient. Only recently have state officials begun taking small steps to let online real estate services offer consumers tools that put them in the driver's seat.
LaLa's Blog at Asklala.com challenges the motivations and selective enforcement practices of New York State regulators -- who are still seeking to punish MLX's CEO for her foresighted stand regarding the need for an open real estate market -- and encourages consumers to speak out.
Asklala.com weaves issues of corporate and government misconduct, along with discussions of events such as the United States Department of Justice's filing an antitrust suit against the National Association of Realtors (NAR), into a interactive website where consumers can demonstrate strength through numbers.
Drawing on the expertise of real estate brokers, lawyers, and other experts, AskLaLa.com also answers dozens of questions posed by apartment buyers, sellers, renters and landlords.
AskLaLa.com was recently featured in the September 8 issue of Corante New York (www.corante.com/newyork), an online technology and business journal authored by technology and financial journalist Dominic Basulto.
