Internet Marketing with the Customer in Mind
25 December 2005Anyone who has spent much time in the webmaster and search engine optimization forums has no doubt heard it all. There is always some new scheme guaranteed to achieve top search engine placement literally overnight with little or no effort. These days everyone wants to make it to the top, make some fast money and move on.
It has really always been like this. As soon as it was determined that linking played a significant role in page rank and search engine popularity everyone started linking like crazy trying to generate as many links as possible without any regard for quality and relevance. The more links the better was and still in the philosophy. It is no surprise that this led to links farms and various scams to generate hundreds if not thousands of links without any real effort. In fact, many webmasters still operate this way even in light of apparent research that indicates Google no longer gives much weight to non-relevant reciprocal linking.
It is futile to spend any time at all trying to figure out the search engine's algorithms in an effort beat the system and make it instantly to the top. It simply doesn't work and is a waste of time. Why not take the time to become familiar with the overall goal of the search engines in order to align in scope of purpose? It is really simple and grossly obvious. The search engines want to provide web search surfers with high quality and relevant search results. Period. There is nothing more to it than that. If a web search surfer searches on the topic of «Internet marketing» and receives nothing but search results filled with pay per click ads and junk sites that have only gotten there through spamming practices then that web search surfer will go to another search engine to try again.
The search engines want to provide customer with relevant unique results that provide good information and answer the customer's questions. Web sites that concentrate on doing this will be successful in the long term regardless of what changes the search engines make to the algorithms that control search results.
Veteran Internet marketing expert, Stone Evans of http://www.dotcomology.com has applied this concept and puts the focus on using high quality content in the form of keyword optimized articles and press releases in effectively marketing a web site while at the same time providing valuable information to web search visitors.
By focusing on the customer and building content rich web sites that have useful information and valuable resources webmasters no longer need to worry about how the search engines will change their algorithms. One thing is for certain. The search engines will always be committed to providing web search surfers with high quality content and resource rich search results.
