eLot Wins New Patent for Internet Sale of Lottery Tickets
15 December 2004eLOT, Inc., a leading provider of Internet marketing and e-commerce technology for state and international lotteries, announced today it had received a "Notice of Allowance" for a patent that covers their system for purchasing state and government lottery tickets over the Internet.
The patent expands on earlier patents the Company acquired for its operating system, and now includes Daily Number and Instant game lottery products that are purchased and played on Internet and sold either on a daily basis or by a long-term subscription service. This system will allow a lottery to sell daily numbers, Lotto, Powerball or MEGA MILLIONS tickets and instant games on a daily or long term subscription basis "said eLOT President Ed Mc Guinn.
The new patent also covers the eLOT system and method that:
Enables lottery players to receive player and ticket information;
Screens and verifies that lottery players satisfy state eligibility criteria;
Stores player and ticket information
Determines winning tickets and notifies winning players, upon receipt of this data from state authorities.
"Combined, our existing Internet technology patents (U.S. Patent Nos. 6,322,446 and 6,383,078) along with this new patent will enable us to offer lottery jurisdictions in the U.S. a comprehensive e-commerce solution addressing minimum age, problem gaming and residency requirement", Mr. Mc Guinn commented.
