Pentagon Analyst Arrested In Internet Sex Sting
25 November 2004San Antonio police Tuesday arrested a man they say flew to the city to have sex with a 14-year-old girl after a series of encounters on the Internet, KSAT 12 News reported exclusively Tuesday.
When he arrived, he found that his contact was really a San Antonio Police Department detective, who had posed as a girl online.
John Miner, 53, was charged with soliciting sex with a minor. Police described him as a Department of Defense (news - web sites) analyst working at the Pentagon (news - web sites).
He was arrested in a parking lot on Fredericksburg Road near Callaghan Road.
"We had detectives waiting and sure enough the suspect came driving up thinking he was going to meet this 14-year-old to have a sexual encounter," said Sgt. Gabe Trevino, spokesman for the San Antonio Police Dept.
Miner corresponded with the incognito detective, "via e-mail, via chat rooms, and, even a camera the suspect had on himself," Trevino said.
Authorities in San Antonio say they had to notify the FBI (news - web sites) of the arrest because of Miner's high security clearance.
