Creative Digital Media Announces 'Radio Electric' -- A New Concept in Internet Radio and Music Promotion
4 May 2006 Miami, FL (PRWEB) May 3, 2006 -- Creative Digital Media today announced the launch of Radio Electric (http://www.radioelectric.com), an Internet radio channel and "collaborative music network." Conceived as a new approach to Internet radio, Radio Electric broadcasts an exciting, fresh and varied mix of new independent artists in a wide range of genres. At the same time, Radio Electric is modeled as an online social network, providing airplay and promotional opportunities for participating artists, both locally and nationally. With the goal of broadcasting the music of "micro-independent artists" while identifying licensing and distribution opportunities for them, Radio Electric is a collaboration between the broadcaster and participating musicians. "As the broadcaster, we provide airplay and an Internet technology infrastructure to facilitate artist promotion", said Richard Sprince, principal of Creative Digital Media and creator of Radio Electric. "The artists collaborate by providing music and by telling their audiences to listen for them on Radio Electric. They help each other by sharing audiences and contacts. In the process, everyone's music gets heard by more people." Creative Digital Media's proprietary web technology aids in email promotional efforts. To that end, artists contribute listener lists for email blasts or forward blasts to their own lists themselves. Radio Electric has received an overwhelmingly positive response from artists, both locally in South Florida and from as far away as New York. Artists immediately understand the concept and see the value of Radio Electric. South Florida singer/songwriter Mary Huddleston (http://maryhuddleston.com/) said "It is great to be able to tell people that I am getting airplay. Everyone is getting the biggest thrill out of hearing my songs on a radio show!" Understanding the collaborative nature of the endeavor, Mary added that she has informed her studio clients, vocal students and other singers about Radio Electric and said "I'll keep spreading the word". Once a critical mass of content has been aggregated, the company hopes to license Radio Electric for wider distribution. "We see potential in newer broadcast mediums, like satellite and cell phone radio", says Sprince. In addition, the company is looking to partner with licensing and distribution companies, in order to identify and secure opportunities for participating artists, and with organizations interested in promoting local arts initiatives. A musician and producer of independent music, Sprince initially conceived of Radio Electric as a way to get airplay for his own music (he calls his project "New World Beat") and that of friends and acquaintances. "The original idea was to use Internet radio to promote our own music. Once we figured out how it works, we decided to share with our friends", he says. Taking advantage of current public interest in independent music and online media, the idea evolved into offering Internet airplay to "micro-independent" artists -- individual musicians who are self-producing, manufacturing and distributing their own products. Radio Electric is based on Creative Digital Media's web technology expertise, music background and interest in Internet radio. The site utilizes a proprietary content management system which stores all content -- including artist information, listener comments, email lists -- in an online database. A year was spent researching Internet radio technology solutions, features and programming options. Radio Electric hopes to leverage growing public interest in online music downloads and independent music, as listeners continue moving away from mainstream media and seek out niche programming.
