Com-Guard Inc. Licenses Preventon's Secure Internet Desktop - PSID
20 January 2005The PSID Product Will Enhance Com-Guard's Computer Security Solutions and Broadens Its Base of Prospective Customers
Com-Guard, Inc. (OTCBB:CGUD), the technology company that markets integrated solutions for the computer security, content filtering and access control markets, today announced a licensing agreement with Preventon Technologies Ltd., a British software company, to License and Private Brand Preventon's ISP security solution, PSID. The Agreement provides for Com-Guard to represent Preventon in the United States, Canada and to other named clients as agreed to by Com-Guard Inc. and Preventon Technologies Ltd. and to implement the PSID product under its own brand of SecurePC(TM) products.
Preventon's subscription-based platform enables ISPs to increase revenues, loyalty and market share by delivering a compelling blended internet security service to consumers. PSID has a low Total Cost of Ownership, requiring minimal capital investment and having negligible ongoing support costs. As a true subscription-based solution, PSID helps ISPs reduce churn by raising the barrier to switching service providers. It can also be deployed quickly and easily, allowing ISPs to recognize revenues within weeks.
Preventon's ISP customers, which include Tier-1 European service providers such as Wanadoo and Planet Internet, have a combined subscriber-base of over 40 million.
The product has been designed and developed with non-expert PC users in mind. It provides a strong, in-depth defense against viruses and hackers, addresses Internet Content censorship, screens pornographic content in email attachments and manages computer usage control issues, thus helping parents and administrators to protect children and employees from the worst of the Internet and the excessive playing of computer games or other addictions. PSID has an uncomplicated and refined interface that is easy to use and enables non-expert PC users to configure powerful desktop security in minutes.
Mr. Joseph Sigismonti, President and COO of Com-Guard, Inc., said, "The licensing agreement will allow Com-Guard Inc. to sell the PSID blended security solution to hundreds of ISPs that provide Internet connectivity to millions of users. The Security Solution will allow ISPs to provide a unique 'one-stop' solution at a time when end users are constantly subjected to security threats. The product includes a firewall, an anti-virus scanner, a content filter and a powerful desktop security suite. There is also a 'white label' re-branding option that can be sold to and re-marketed under the ISP's own brand if requested. This is a great, easy to implement opportunity for ISPs who can now provide an effective and much needed protection suite using a monthly subscription model for minimal upfront investment. PSID can be provided as a downloadable monthly subscription package for Broadband or dial-up users and comes as a suite or as separate product options. The subscription solution, when licensed, will provide revenue to the ISPs, Com-Guard and to Preventon Technologies on a recurring basis."
Dr. Edward W. Savarese stated, "This Agreement and our relationship with Preventon Technologies will allow us to continue to implement our strategy of providing a variety of Security Solutions to our customers. We now have the tools to provide Security Solutions to ISPs, end users and to sell these products through Com-Guard, Inc. and our PC Products subsidiary."
Preventon(TM) -- ISP Solution:
Mr. Paul Goossens said, "Preventon Secure Internet Desktop (PSID) is a subscription-based solution aimed at ISPs. It provides comprehensive security, encompassing Firewall, Anti-Virus, Desktop Security and Content Filtering. The license for the Preventon Suite is configured to be valid for one month at a time and it automatically requests a new license for the customer every month without the need for action from the customer. Only those customers who are valid and up-to-date subscribers get a new month of use. This product has been simplified for everyday users or alternatively advanced users or small businesses can customize settings for additional flexibility."
