Annual Web 2.0 Conference to Showcase Transparensee Systems’ Next Generation Product Search Technology
6 October 2005Steve Lavine, Founder and CEO of Transparensee Systems (http://www.transparensee.com) has been invited to demonstrate the latest version of the “Discovery Search Engine” to attendees at Web 2.0, which opens today at the Argent Hotel in San Francisco. This annual three-day conference program brings leading Internet industry companies together to focus on innovation and technology developments spanning the Internet, communications and entertainment industries.
The “Discovery Search Engine” is a powerful and easy-to-use technology, which when integrated with any website, lets users find the best match for any product they’re searching for based on an unlimited number of search criteria – even if there are no exact matches. Transparensee’s proprietary “fuzzy” search technology saves the user the trouble of continuously refining their search until they find a match, or having to navigate through a list of results with no particular relevance to their search.
Lavine’s presentation will be featured in a new segment called “UI Minute,” which is a series of visual presentations that highlight innovations in Web interface and design. According to the producers of Web 2.0 (http://www.web2dcon.com), “these breakthroughs will point the way to how we will all be interacting with the Web in the near future.”
“We’re extremely excited to have the opportunity to demonstrate our technology at such an prestigious event,” says Lavine. “These are industry visionaries that influence how consumers will interact with the web in the future.”
According to George Conrades, Executive Chairman of Akami, “Web 2.0 brings together the innovators and industry titans who are changing the rules of the online experience.” Those participating in this years’ conference include: Barry Diller, Terry Semel, Mark Cuban and eBay Founder Pierre Omidyar, to name just a few.
Adds Web 2.0 Program Chair John Battelle, “Web 2.0 attracts those at the top of the Internet industry who are driving innovations and business performance in the next generation of Internet-leveraged companies.”
Batelle, who is also the author of the recently released book “The Search: How Google and Its Rivals Rewrote the Rules of Business and Transformed our Culture,” recently featured Transparensee on his “Searchblog” (http://www.batellemedia.com/archives/001312.php), calling it “powerful stuff” which “solves a core database search issue.” He adds that it’s an “’aha’ when you see it in action.”
Product Search has become an important focus in ecommerce, which according to Forrester Research is expected to increase 22% this year, reaching $172.8 billion in sales. A recent study by Jupiter MediaMetrix reveals that 85% of site searches don’t provide results that the user is looking for, causing 80% of visitors to abandon the site.
