Analysys International Says UUSEE's Successful Fund Raising From Overseas VCs Shows Contents Will Become Core Competency for IPTV Players in China
1 January 2006Analysys International, a leading Internet-based business information service provider, says that UUSEE's successful fund raising from overseas VCs shows that the capability of providing diversified contents will become the core competency of PC-end IPTV players in China.

Recently, an overseas strategic investor, together with two other VC firms: Sequoia Capital and Susquehanna International Group's (SIG), made investments in the IPTV software and service provider -- UUSEE in China. The investment is said to be worth no less than 10 million dollars. UUSEE has signed a four-year contract with CCTV to be the exclusive agent, providing programs to all Internet subscribers of CCTV channels, except CCTV-6.

4. IPTV service providers have two ways to control content: one is t ooperate with traditional content providers, such as televisio tations; another way is to develop new contents by themselves.
5. From a long-term viewpoint, service providers should focus more on ne ontents, especially original contents created by users, which wil mpower IPTV providers, to win independent developing space from th raditional television and broadcast industry.
