Amazon in Talks for Movie, TV Downloads and Google to Locate Phoenix-Area Facility on Arizona State University's Tempe Campus

Citing three people briefed on the discussions, the Times said Amazon is in advanced negotiations with Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios and Warner Brothers. PetSmart Inc. (Nasdaq:PETM), the largest retailer of pet food and supplies, on Wednesday said a one-time benefit from a credit-rate settlement and higher sales pushed fourth-quarter profit up 9 percent. The company also provided guidance for the first quarter just below Wall Street estimates. PetSmart projects comparable-store sales in the low- to mid-single digits for the first quarter of 2006, and in the mid-single digits for the full year. Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) recently announced plans to open an office on the Tempe campus of Arizona State University (ASU) as part of its continued efforts to build out a Phoenix-area operation. The new Google office will be primarily focused on engineering, operations and IT support functions and is part of its worldwide effort to build engineering centers in locations where there are great engineers.
